ABC15 to air annual telethon to benefit Phoenix Children’s Hospital

PHOENIX – ABC15 will virtually host the annual ABC15 Telethon on Wednesday, April 13 from 6 a.m. to 10:35 p.m. to benefit Phoenix Children’s Hospital. The popular event raised more than $769,000 for the families of Phoenix Children’s patients in 2019. The annual telethon usually airing in April was canceled in 2020.

The Telethon features a phone bank made up of community sponsors and volunteers, and inspirational stories shared by superhero patients, doctors and hospital staff. ABC15’s Sonoran Living show hosted by Terri Ouellette and Susan Casper will devote its entire show to the Telethon, plus a special 30-minute afternoon show. ABC15 News will cover the Telethon across all newscasts and social media platforms throughout the day.

Donors will have the chance to become heroes of hope and save the fortunes of Phoenix Children’s patients by gifting a superhero sidekick to a child when they make a monthly pledge of $20 or a one-time donation of $240 $ or more. Donors can call the phone bank at 602.933.4567 on the day of the telethon or visit abc15.com/Telethon to donate.

Corporate sponsors will provide matches throughout the day where a giveaway will go even further in supporting Phoenix Children’s:

• Desert Financial Credit Union 9:00 am – Triple Match, where $20 monthly pledge becomes $60 monthly pledge
• Accident Law Group 6:00 p.m. – Double Match, where $240 one-time gift becomes $480 one-time gift
• Scripps Howard Foundation 10:00 PM – Double Match, where $50 monthly pledge becomes $100 monthly pledge

Every dollar raised during the ABC15 Telethon will have a direct impact on patient care and the essential programs and services provided to patients and their families.

“The support of our ABC15 partners is critical to helping our families and patients who need it most,” said Steve Schnall, Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer, Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation. “The generosity of viewers at home who tune in to make their pledges amazes us every year at Phoenix Children’s.”

“Phoenix Children’s is a vital part of the community,” said Anita Helt, vice president and general manager of ABC15. “Doctors and staff treat the patient and family with dignity and respect. Miracles happen every day at PCH – we are honored to be a small part of their dedication.
