White House Twitter account tells Republican hypocrites to sit down and STFU

Few things unite Republicans these days like hypocrisy. Not calling it, of course, but engaging in it daily, if not hourly. To list just a few examples: Republicans claimed they were censored by tech companies while literally censoring what can be taught in schools; they have insisted that mask mandates are an attack on civil liberties while passing laws dictating what pregnant women can and cannot do with their own bodies; and they call themselves “pro-life” while suggesting that people whose lives don’t matter to them should starve. The list, of course, is endless. But this week, the GOP found another target for its hypocritical invective: Joe Bidenstudent loan forgiveness program. For the past 48 hours, Conservative lawmakers have been absolutely adamant that this program, which allows millions of borrowers to erase up to $10,000 or $20,000 in federal student loan debt, will lead to the downfall of society. Why? Because people MUST pay off their debts, the GOP argues, conveniently failing to mention the sizable number of Republicans whose businesses took out loans under the Paycheck Protection Program that were later forgiven by the government.

Luckily for the universe, someone in the Biden White House apparently thought this inconvenient truth has been to note. And on Thursday, in an incredible act of aggression never before seen by Democrats, they decided to let everyone know.

In a series of simple but effective tweets, the official White House Twitter account responded to GOP outrage over the student debt jubilee by noting the six- and seven-figure PPP loans the government forgave in the part of the pandemic era curriculum.

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene? Who said it was “completely unfair” to forgive student loans of up to $20,000? She had $183,504 in forgiven debt.
